Maureen Atwell is a former criminal prosecutor specializing in domestic violence and child support. Her writing has appeared in the Compassiviste Anthology, Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire, and legal journals including the Wisconsin International Law Journal. In 2025, she was shortlisted for the Tadpole Press 100-Word Writing Contest and received an honorable mention in the Iron Pen Contest.

Maureen earned a B.A. from Hunter College and a J.D. from the University of Wisconsin. She is currently at work on a crime novel that explores themes of justice, poverty, and financial abuse.
